Stonechat (Saxicola torquata) territorial boundaries marked by song. They start singing a couple of weeks before nesting, to occupy the best breeding territory. To illustrate this territorial behaviour I had to paint the Stonechats more dense like they live in the nature.
This painting required a very precise sketching. So before starting to work I made a photo with the birding equipments: spotting scope, binocular, field guide books, notebook, digital camera, GPS tracker, head lamp. After finishing with the laborious sketching, I started to apply the colors and shades for every object. Finally I’m done with this still life painting.
